For Attorneys

We can help you navigate the complex systems that climbers and professional guides use everyday. Our knowledge of the industry can help you best represent your clients and assist you in achieving the best possible outcome.

Our principal, Alan Jolley, has been on the cutting edge of the climbing guide industry for over 4 decades. He is the only person in the US who has been deeply involved in EVERY American climbing guide organization in existence over the last 45 years. This is not hyperbole.

Many of the climbing techniques in common use in the United States were developed by Alan. Most of those techniques were introduced while he was involved in the creation of a formal education and certification program for guides via the American Mountain Guides Association (1988 – 2008).

Alan has been involved in teaching recreational climbers advanced skills, and training professional mountain guides, for over 4 decades. He has worked diligently over this period to raise the standards of technical climbing techniques for recreational climbers, and guides.

There have been 4 professional climbing guide associations formed in the United States. They are: the American Mountain Guides Association (AMGA), the United States Mountain Guides Association (USMGA), the Professional Climbing Instructors Association (PCIA), and the Professional Climbing Guides Institute (PCGI).

Alan was intimately involved in all of the aforementioned associations as either a board member, a founding board member, or a founder of the technical committee. There is no  one else with this depth and breadth of experience in the industry.

If an expert has been hired by opposing counsel, and they have formal training as a guide, it’s probable that we know them, trained them, field certified them, or at the least created the program by which they were trained and certified.
